301 redirecting(permanently moving) non-www to www is something i have done for years, but only today did i realise there was one simple mod_rewrite rule i could use for all my sites.
The old method i used was
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www.assertica\.co\.uk*$
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.assertica.co.uk/$1 [R=301,L]
Nothing wrong with this, it works

On another site i manage we have been experincing a very slow admin interface. No matter what we tried to do it was taking 30 seconds for anything to happen. No errors in logs, no errors on page, site loaded fine. Other wordpress sites on same server were working fine.
